Members enjoyed an excellent tour through the new winemaking facility developed by the Pooley family in Cambridge on Monday 14 April. John and Matt Pooley explained their philosophy of sustainable production, even down to the recycling of the factory waste water which they truck to use in their vineyards. John spoke with great pride about his “new Porsche”, a French grape crushing machine.

They are focussed on attention to detail which they can achieve in a small operation, currently processing around 85 tonnes of grapes per annum but with capacity to grow to 200 tonnes per annum. They have achieved many accolades and were named Tasmanian Winery of the Year in 2013.

The evening was topped off with a BBQ long-table dinner which members greatly enjoyed.
